5 Games to Play with Your Pomsky
Pomsky owners love to spend time with their precious pets but what is there to do when the weather outside becomes gloomy or it is too cold to take your dog for a walk? There are many ways to entertain your pomsky right from home. To keep your pooch entertained and busy, take a look at the unique games below.
1. Hide and Seek
While we all know kids love to play hide and seek, so will your pomsky! To play this game with your dog, simply take a toy or treat and show it to your dog then hide it. If they know the command for find, they will be able to play the game. Say the magic word ‘Find’ and they will be off! You can try to help your pomsky by using positive terms like ‘good job’ as they near the item, rewarding them with a treat when they find the item
2. Stairway Exercise
A fun game that provides exercise and hours of entertainment can easily be done with stairs. If you have stairs in your home, use them to play with your pomsky. Take your dog to the bottom of the stairs and then tell them to stay. Place a toy at the top of the staircase and then have your pet retrieve it. The pomsky will run after the toy and be exercising while having fun. This can burn energy, allowing your pomsky to be frisky without getting on your nerves! You can also throw a ball from the bottom of the stairs to the top for another version of the game.
3. Tug of War
Tug of war is a simple game to play with your dog that has added benefits. You can teach your pooch commands such as ‘get it’ or ‘let go’ while playing the game. Use a small rope or toy and gently tug the item back and forth with your pet.
4. Obstacle Course Fun
If you have a large area for your pomsky to play in, such as a living room or den, set up a fun obstacle course. This can be fun for the whole family to join in as you create the course. Take boxes and create a maze or use a chair to teach your dog how to jump over or run under. You can add in a ball to play catch to make the game even more fun.
5. Schedule a Playdate
One of the best ways to entertain your pomsky is to have a playdate. Find a friend who has a pomsky or friendly small dog to allow your pet to be social. Make friends and have fun at the same time. You can learn new games and additional ways to have fun with your pomsky by becoming friends with fellow pomsky owners. Find a community and meet regularly at each other’s home or even at the park to allow your dogs to play and have fun together.

Hi Jason!
Not sure if you are still answering the questions? I just got a pomsky puppy as a gift, totally unexpected. There are 2 more huskies in the house already- a 15 year old female( who doesn’t care about a puppy and just ignores her) and a 2 year old male husky who plays with the new pup A LOT. It seems to be pretty safe, even though there is a huge size difference. But now I am worried- you said in the article “small size play date mate”. Could you please clarify if it is safe for my puppy to play with a big dog?
Thank you! And thank you so much for this blog, I freaked out when I got her, but your blog is helping me! Thank you again!
Best, Valerie

Hey Valerie,
Glad to hear you find the blog useful!
That’s a general rule of thumb, and I would recommend it if you’d have a choice. But as it’s very unlikely you could prevent your dogs playing with each other, maybe you could keep an eye on some pointers and interfere when necessary. Like do they start to show teeth or growl aggressively? There are of course other signs of aggressive body language, but I trust you are the best on reading your dogs.
It’s also wise to take a break after a while so it doesn’t get too rough. After all there’s always the risk of small dog getting hurt.
Hope this helps!
